“Yatra Yatra Raghunatha Keerthanam, Tatra Tatra Krutha Mastha Kanjalim
Bhaspha Baari Baripurna Lochanam Maruthim Mamatha Rakshasanthakam”.
ABOUT TEMPLE
This sacred chant resonates through the air, invoking the divine presence of Lord Hanuman. Whoever utters the name of Lord Hanuman will be freed from all fears and bestowed with boundless happiness. In a remote village named Kanamarlapudi, nestled in the Savalyapuram Mandal of Palnadu District, this divine blessing has come to life through the presence of Lord Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy at the renowned Veeranjaneya Swamy Devasthanam.
More than a century ago, the temple was erected by the illustrious soul, Keerthiseshulu Sri Jagarlapudi Gopala Krishnavadhani Garu. Sri Gopala Krishnavadhani Garu was not only known for his benevolent nature but also for his deep-rooted connection to Vedic traditions. With only a few cents of land in his possession, he wholeheartedly dedicated himself to the construction of the Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple. On a propitious day, the sacred idol of Lord Hanuman was installed, and from that moment onward, the temple became a haven for seamless performances of various sacred rituals, including the aromatic waft of incense, the radiant glow of lamps, and the heartfelt offering of Naivedya to the deity.

Sri Gopala Krishnavadhani Garu, a man known for his kind-hearted and down-to-earth personality, led a life deeply rooted in Vedic principles. Despite owning only a few cents of land, Sri Gopala Krishnavadhani Garu dedicated himself to building the Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple. On an auspicious day, he installed the idol, and from that moment onwards, the temple has witnessed the seamless performance of various sacred rituals, including Dhoopa (incense), Deepa (lighting of lamps), and Naivedya (offering of food) to the deity.
Sri Gopala Krishnavadhani Garu was blessed with four sons – Sri Jagarlapudi Koteswara Sastry Garu, Sri Jagarlapudi Maruthi Vara Prasad Garu, Sri Jagarlapudi Venkata Durga Prasad Garu, and Sri Jagarlapudi Venkata Subrahmanya Sastry Garu. The youngest son, Sri Jagarlapudi Venkata Subrahmanya Sastry Garu, was adopted by the family during his childhood. Sri Jagarlapudi Koteswara Sastry Garu, the eldest son, served as the Headmaster in the Government High School of Savalyapuram. He resided with his father in the Devasthanam’s house, diligently attending to the service of the deity. The remaining two brothers lived away from Kanamarlapudi due to their employment.

Every year on the auspicious day of Hanuman Jayanthi, all four sons of Sri Jagarlapudi Krishnavadhani Garu, along with their families, would gather together to participate in the divine services of Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy. However, in the year 1980, Sri Jagarlapudi Krishnavadhani Garu passed away. After his demise, his eldest son, Sri Jagarlapudi Koteswara Sastry Garu, along with his two brothers, took on the responsibility of maintaining the temple and performing the sacred rituals. Even after Sri Jagarlapudi Koteswara Sastry Garu’s passing, his family members continued to carry out the sevas (services) for the deity.
Due to the family members’ advancing age and health issues, the next generation of the Jagarlapudi family, represented by Sri Jagarlapudi Vidya Sankar (son of Late Sri Jagarlapudi Venkata Durga Prasad) and Sri Jagarlapudi RamGopal (son of Late Sri Jagarlapudi Maruthi Vara Prasad), took up the mantle of temple maintenance. With limited resources and funds, they appointed a priest with a modest wage of Rs/- 2000 to perform the daily kainkaryas (ritualistic services) to the deity.
To ensure the grand celebration of Hanuman Jayanthi, Sri Jagarlapudi RamGopal, with the support of Jagarlapudi family members, relatives, friends, native people, and devotees, raised public funds. Every year on “Hanuman Jayanthi” festival, they organized a magnificent event at the Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple in Kanamarlapudi. The festivities included Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam (ritualistic offering to Lord Shiva), Hanuman Chalisa Parayana (recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa), Sri Suvarchala Sametha Veeranjaneya Swamy Kalyanothsavam (auspicious marriage ceremony), Laksha Malle Poolarachana (offering of a hundred thousand jasmine flowers), and a procession of Sri Suvarchala Sametha Veeranjan.
